CRAE is situated in the centre of the town of Salt , between the Old Town and the residential neighbourhood. Close to educational, training, leisure, sport and cultural services, as well as commercial ones. The area has excellent communication links with Girona.

Background
In 1982, under the direction of the Diputació de Girona (provincial council) and as a response to the programme " Releasing children from protective custodial care", the Comunitat Infantil Segre (Segre Childrens Community) was set up. Subsequently, in 1992, its management passed to the Consell Comarcal del Gironès (Girona county council) until January 1995, when the transfer to the Fundació Plataforma Educativa began (completed in June 1995). In February 2006, CRAE Segre transferred to Salt, and changed from being a 10-place centre to one of 20 places, looking after children and young people, especially adolescents. Moreover, CRAE Segre changed in February 2006 from being a DGAIA centre to being a DGAIA collaborative one, under the name of CRAE Salt. From the start of 2008 its has been run directly by Fundació RESILIS
