CREI El Pedrenyal is situated in Santa Maria de Palautordera (Vallès Oriental, Barcelona).
The resident youngsters can enjoy the advantages of the rural setting and at the same time have easy access to the resources that the town offers, since it has good communication links.

Training
The centre has a shared education unit (UEC) because some of the resident youngsters are still of school age and, due to their needs, are not able to use ordinary resources. Projects have also been developed with an ecological vegetable garden and henhouse, within the framework of the workshops. Youngsters between the ages of 12 and 16, take part in these as a variable credit for the UEC. Those aged between 16 and 18 are attached to the workshop, where the objectives of acquiring work habits, learning different skills and the acquisition of competencies and aptitudes for the labour market are a priority. The centre also has a computer room with 8 PCs and access to the internet.
Background
CREI El Pedrenyal was established in response to the needs of a certain section of the population identified by DGAIA that required a contained educational environment with its own intensive resources.
From 2002, when the Fundació Plataforma Educativa began its management, it has been a collaborative centre of the DGAIA. From the start of 2008 it has been run directly by Fundació RESILIS.

The education team has 13 educators and social educators, two shift heads and a psychologist.
The centre has a social assistant that liases with the families of the youngsters.
The development team has two classroom teachers and a teacher of trades.
The service team has a housemistress and a cleaner.
The security team is sub-contracted to an external company.
