Independent living promotion unit (UFA)
The independent living promotion unit is a resource for young people in the care of the Generalitat that are awaiting the results of a diagnostic assessment and the formulation of the most suitable administrative measure for their case. Their administrative care remains with the director of the reception centre or with the director of the Serveis d’Autonomia de la Fundació. This designation is carried out by the DGAIA depending on the orientation of the case.
These young people have made a positive step, in terms of responsibility and maturity in the respective centre and are about to begin the move to full independent living and/or the derivation of the interdepartmental plan, in an assisted flat and/or follow-up in the outside world. The UFA offers a much more realistic daily lifestyle than the reception centre, and the possibility of acquiring the habits necessary for life out of care.
